  Marvie, Belgium, December 20, 1944:
The Germans probed all along the Bastogne perimeter, seeking a weak point they
could exploit. After bypassing a heavily defended roadblock astride the Bastogne
road, elements of the Panzer Lehr emerged from the forest and the town of Marvie
that appeared lightly garrisoned. The decision was made to storm the town and
regain the Bastogne road just to the north. As the first shells of the preliminary
barrage sounded overhead the grenadiers burst out of the woods, attempting to
take Marvie in a coup de main....
VICTORY CONDITIONS: Each building within the village
proper (inside 12Q1, S2, S6, Q9, O5, M4 road) that is solely held by one side
at the end of turn 6 is worth a number of points equal to its hex size (12P3
= 3 points; 12R7 = 4 points). The Americans control all buildings at the start
of the game. At the end of the game, 1 point is awarded to the American for
each intact roadblock or 1 point to the German for each removed roadblock. To
win, the German must have at least as many points as the American at the end
  of the game.

 AFTERMATH: Luck was not with
the Germans that day, for shortly before the attack, Marvie was reinforced by
fresh troopers of the 327th Glider Infantry. They had also failed to detect two
Shermans atop a hill 700 yards to the north. As the Panzergrenadiers advanced
across open ground, they engaged a screen of Stuart tanks. One went up in flames,
the other was crippled. At this point the whole force was broadside to the two
Shermans, which began firing. Two PzKwIVs and one halftrack were knocked out immediately,
one PzKwIV retreated to the shelter of the woods. After entering the town, a short
vicious battle ensued which ended with the remaining Panzers destroyed, 30 Panzergrenadiers
dead and 30 prisoner.
